The Search for ‘Peter’ Finalists’ videos….

Here they are, they finalists for The Search for ‘Peter’. They’ve all gone off and made a video telling us why they think they should appear in our new series ‘Fishing in the Footsteps of Mr Crabtree’ broadcasting Autumn 2012. They’re a fabulous bunch of kids and frankly we’re very happy that it’s not us having to make the decision of which four are going to win. That responsibility lies with our media partners The Angler’s Mail, Anglers’ Net and the Daily Mirror. Good luck everyone!

Feel free to ‘like’ your favourites in the playlist – hopefully it goes without saying not to ‘dislike’ any of them. These are not professional actors, they are great kids who love fishing and who are excited about the opportunity to appear in a fishing programme alongside John Bailey. We appreciate your supporting them with that firmly in mind.

A face for radio

Today I made my radio debut.  That’s  ‘sat in a studio’ radio as opposed to ‘hogging the mic at a charity event’ radio.

I’m much more used to being behind the scenes, very happy to coach others in how to address a camera, or a microphone (you know what they say about ‘those who can’t’), and I don’t mind admitting that I was scared.

Still, in the spirit of “Do one thing every day that scares you”, I meekly made my way to the Luton home of BBC 3Counties Radio. [Read more…]

The Search for ‘Peter’

Mr. Crabtree goes fishing, written by the late Bernard Venables, began life in the Daily Mirror where it was serialised for over 25 years.  It remains the largest selling fishing book of all time.

The Mirror Group, in conjunction with Toast Entertainment Group, the Angler’s Mail and Anglers’ net is launching a search for a new ‘Peter’. A nationwide search to find four boys or girls, aged 8 to 14 who will join angling legend John Bailey, as he fishes in the footsteps of Mr. Crabtree in a forthcoming TV series due to broadcast late 2012. A Partnership with Save the Children

International women’s website In the Powder Room is partnering with Save the Children on its #PassItOn outreach campaign. The intention is to help save 4 million children’s lives through the global adoption of a vaccination program being debated at a summit hosted by David Cameron in London on June 13th 2011.

Save the Children is sending 3 high profile women to follow the Cold Trail; the journey that a vaccine makes from the capital to get to the most exposed, rural areas of a developing nation. This journey is beset with logistical problems and the STC ambassadors will be reporting back on the challenges they face.
