Today I made my radio debut. That’s ‘sat in a studio’ radio as opposed to ‘hogging the mic at a charity event’ radio.
I’m much more used to being behind the scenes, very happy to coach others in how to address a camera, or a microphone (you know what they say about ‘those who can’t’), and I don’t mind admitting that I was scared.
Still, in the spirit of “Do one thing every day that scares you”, I meekly made my way to the Luton home of BBC 3Counties Radio.
Of course I had an ulterior motive. Today was the day that we launched our Blogger Outreach programme for WeShop, our social commerce platform In the Powder Room and I was going to take any opportunity to talk about it.
As it was, it was a fun show. Along with the presenter Nick Coffer of My Daddy Cooks fame, Helen and I managed to string together a conversation on Eastenders (we don’t watch), the winner of the national wife carrying championships, and conduct a joint berating of Denis Waterman for his attempts to justify wife-beating if a woman is clever and makes you feel stupid – that was the crux of his argument I believe. And after all of that I even got to talk a little bit about WeShop. Win Win.
Typically I left for the school run just as the conversation warmed up and turned to Jeannette’s boudoir photography Did get to see her great pics though. I said ‘pics’.
All in all it went well, apart from the bit where I lost the plot trying to describe what a blog is. Meh…
Thanks for having me guys!
