International women’s website In the Powder Room is partnering with Save the Children on its #PassItOn outreach campaign. The intention is to help save 4 million children’s lives through the global adoption of a vaccination program being debated at a summit hosted by David Cameron in London on June 13th 2011.
Save the Children is sending 3 high profile women to follow the Cold Trail; the journey that a vaccine makes from the capital to get to the most exposed, rural areas of a developing nation. This journey is beset with logistical problems and the STC ambassadors will be reporting back on the challenges they face.
In the Powder Room is championing Christine Mosler, parent blogger at Thinly Spread and part of the core team. Christine will be vlogging from Mozambique and sharing this content exclusively through In the Powder Room every day this week.
For Chris it’s an intensely personal journey. The vaccines they are following are amongst those that make a real difference to her family’s life. Chris says: “My son is asthmatic and without a pneumonia inoculation easily available in this country, his life could have taken a very different turn. This is the first time I’ve spent more than two nights away from my family ever and even with their amazing support I know this is going to be a challenge.”
These are exactly the types of vaccines missing in countries like Mozambique. Freely available medicines that could save millions of lives but without the funding and agreement to enable ease of travel to international agencies they simply cannot get to where they need to be.
CEO Johno Morisano says: “When we were told about Chris’s journey and the good that it will bring to the world’s children we felt it was our duty to activate our readership by sharing Chris’s very personal videos with them. We hope that tens of thousands of our readers will sign the petition that tells the world leaders that women are watching and listening and waiting for them to take action.”
