Crabtree’s back for more! Toast Entertainment Group has announced its plans for series 2 and we’re partnering with them to direct the new campaign to find Britain’s young angling talent.
In ‘Fishing in the Footsteps of Mr. Crabtree – The Quest’, presenter John Bailey will bring viewers back into the world of Crabtree, but this time cast and crew will be setting themselves some new and greater challenges. Kicking off with The Quest for ‘Peter’ – a nationwide search for SIX young anglers who want to follow in the footsteps of Sam, Henry, Tadhg, Michael, Jaynie, Claragh and James, joining John bankside to achieve their own personal targets.
Executive Producer, Lester Holcombe, says: “Fishing in the footsteps of Mr. Crabtree is essentially a straight forward series of angling adventures catching a variety of fantastic fish in stunning surroundings. Tied in to that are some decent traditional values about respect for others, ourselves and our environment. It’s authentic and real, and yes ‘nice’, and for that we make no apology – talk to anglers everywhere about what’s been missing in angling TV and they’ll point to Mr. Crabtree.”
The ‘Peter’ character comes from the ‘Mr. Crabtree Goes Fishing’ in which Mr. Crabtree and his son go fishing together. However, for ‘Fishing in the footsteps of Mr. Crabtree’ the producers want to encourage just as many girls as boys to step up and demonstrate that the future of fishing is inclusive and gender-neutral.
The best news for anyone unlucky enough to have missed the first series is that the 16th June is Crabtree Day! This year’s Glorious 16th June is also Father’s Day and Quest TV is running the entire first series of Fishing in the Footsteps of Mr. Crabtree back-to-back from 1 through to 7pm. What better way to celebrate than a whole afternoon and evening dedicated to fishing and revelling in all that’s good about our great sport?
There’ll be some great competitions running throughout the day so we at Team Crabtree recommend an early start – get out and enjoy a perfect Crabtree misty dawn and spend a few hours reminding yourself why you love river fishing so much. Then head back home for a bite to eat and an afternoon with the family watching Crabtree. We’re smiling already…
Quest TV can be found on Freeview 38 / Sky 154 / Virgin 172
